International Holocaust Memorial Day

January 27 - International Holocaust Memorial Day

Today, an event dedicated to the International Holocaust Remembrance Day was held in the museum together with the BRSM City District Organization for students of the "Secondary School No. 2 of the Town named after A.P. Sobolevsky".

Why January 27th? On January 27, 1945, Soviet troops liberated the largest of the Nazi concentration camps Auschwitz (Auschwitz), where more than 1 million people were killed during the occupation. During the Great Patriotic War, the Nazis also carried out a policy of genocide on the territory of the Gorodok district, which was told to the students of the school.

It is believed that the concept of "Holocaust" is applicable exclusively to the Jewish population. However, this event influenced the further struggle against any manifestations of intolerance and xenophobia in the world
